The River of Stones – A Mindful Writing Project for January

I’ve come to know about another writing project running during this month of January called “A River of Stones 2012” that I feel is very special, so I’m sharing the opportunity here with you.  You can read more information here on the blog Writing Our Way Home by Kaspilata and Fiona Robyn.

They say:

“Pay more attention and fall in love with the world.
Our January ’12 ‘river of stones’ has begun!

The Everso Quick Version:

1. Notice something properly every day during January.
2. Write it down.

That’s it. You can stop reading now. Go out and buy yourself a gorgeous notebook, start writing your small stones, and you’ll be in the river. If you join during January you can either write 31 daily small stones or stop at the end of the month.”

This is an exercise in mindful observation and writing.  Absorb one thing in detail every day and write about it.  That’s it.  If you sign up for their mailing list, they will send you details regarding how your own small stones may be eligible to be included in their blogzine this year.  I definitely encourage you to visit their blog and read up in more detail.

You can submit your small stones to their blog, create your own blog, or simply keep them for yourself.  I am planning to post at least one small stone per week here on my blog.  If you do plan to blog your small stones, let me know via comments and we can link our small stones together.
